SAN DIEGO – Apr. 11, 2011 –San Diego County McDonald’s restaurants are supporting their charity of choice Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego by raising funds through a text-to-donate campaign that also introduces the newest blended ice beverage on the McCafé menu – Frozen Strawberry Lemonade.

“McDonald’s has a long history of giving back to the community, which is why we are excited to utilize new technology in a way that will benefit our preferred charity and the families that rely on the Ronald McDonald House for comfort in difficult times,” said Phil Palumbo, president of the McDonald’s Owner/Operator Association of San Diego County.
Funds raised through this text-to-donate campaign will help support the Ronald McDonald House of San Diego, which serves as a home away from home for families with seriously ill or injured children being treated at San Diego-area hospitals. The new home, built in 2009, features 47 guest suites and a family care center. In 2010, the charity helped more than 20,000 family members with children in local hospitals.
