Ronald McDonald House Charities® of San Diego
Ronald McDonald House Charities® of San Diego, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2010, provides a home-away-from-home for children and their families while the child is treated for serious, often life-threatening illnesses at San Diego hospitals. McDonald’s of San Diego County continues to support RMHC-SD, playing a key role in building the new 47-bedroom Ronald McDonald House.
Since opening the first 12-bedroom House in 1980, 140,000 nights of lodging were provided to families. The new 65,000 square foot facility, which opened July 2010, expects to serve nearly 20,000 families this year. The House will not only provide shelter, but also day services to thousands of monthly visitors through the new Family Care Center. The Ronald McDonald House takes care of families, so they can care for their kids, and relies greatly on community support to accomplish their mission.
